Privacy — Tutorfic

The short version: Tutorfic only uses your child's textbook content to teach. We don't sell data, we don't show ads, and your API keys never leave the server.

What we collect

Account details — the email used to sign in (cloud plan only).
Library content — the chapter files you upload and the lessons, quizzes and exams generated from them.
Progress data — scores, streaks, badges and weak-area notes per child profile.
Usage totals — counts and approximate AI cost, used for your budget cap and billing.

What we don't do

We don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
We don't show advertising to children.
We don't send your API keys to the browser — every AI call is proxied server-side.

How content is used

Uploaded chapter pages are sent to our AI provider only to generate lessons, quizzes and exams, and to read them aloud. Results are cached so the same content isn't re-processed unnecessarily.

Where your data lives

If you self-host, everything stays on your own machine. On our cloud plan, each account's library and progress are kept private and separated, and accessible only to that account (and an admin you designate).

Children's privacy

Tutorfic is designed to be used by children under the supervision of a parent, teacher or guardian, who creates and controls the account. There is nothing for a child to browse to and no public profiles.

Your choices

You can delete a chapter, a child profile or your whole account at any time, which removes the associated content and progress. To request help, contact us or email hello@tutorfic.com.
